Dear Families, The 3-5 grade are hard at work on their current IB unit. The central idea for this unit is that society's perspective can promote or deny social justice. Below are photos of our lines of inquiry and some of the work we have completed. Third Graders are currently reading a biography of Harriet Tubman. Ask your third grader to tell you about some of his/her learning! Fourth Graders are reading, Counting on Grace, a story about a young Vermont girl who must leave school to work in the mills. All of the 3-5 graders had a chance to create their own country and come up with 10 laws for the country. Students worked in small groups for this task. Each group was assigned a "dictator" to lead the group, to help students experience different types of government. Some of the dictators said that they felt "powerful" and others said they felt "guilty" and wanted to make sure everyone is their group was happy with their roles. It was a learning experience for all. Shakespeare Celebration: On Thursday evening 15 Salisbury students attended the Town Hall Theater's Shakespeare documentary launch.
